The ENABLE Newsletter
Welcome to the very first ENABLE project newsletter! The ENABLE newsletter will be released regularly, providing updates on the project’s highlights and achievements at different stages of its development.
The ENABLE project aims to develop safe, stimulating, and responsive learning environments that promote a positive whole-school climate, taking into account the stories and backgrounds of migrant, refugee and displaced children, by providing tailor-made psychological treatment services in the school setting. The project is implemented by 7 partners from 5 different countries (France, Belgium, Italy, Turkey and Greece). You can find more information about the project on our website.

The ENABLE Website is out!
The ENABLE project website is already accessible for the public! This website is going to be the main resource of information about the ENABLE project, and all the news and project outcomes will be included on it.
The website provides general information about the project methodology, implementation, and results. It also offers details about the consortium, project results, news updates, and a contact section for reaching out to the project managers.
Make sure to visit our website regularly to stay updated on the project’s latest developments!
One of the first steps of the ENABLE project, and the first activity of the WP2 was the collection of good practices and tools related to the social and emotional development of children, focusing on the treatment of trauma among MRD children and adolescents, leading to a mapping matrix.
Level 1: General population affected by trauma-Basic services and security.
Level 2: Mild psychological distress- Supportive generalised activities.
Level 3: Mild moderate mental health problems: Focused, specialised support.
Level 4: Severe psychological problems-Specialised services.
We have found many great practices across Europe and beyond, that we would like to share with other practitioners and experts. Therefore, we have created an online map with all the best trauma-informed practices collected by the ENABLE consortium. The map is public and it can be found on our website, under the “results” section.
Definition of the profile of the trauma-informed teacher and educator profile
The second activity of WP2 in the project involves defining the profile of trauma-informed teachers/educators in primary and secondary education.
Each partner directly engaged with the project’s main target group by conducting interviews and focus groups with teachers, school managers, and heads from primary and secondary schools in the respective countries. The objective of this activity is to explore and establish the profile and training requirements of teachers and educators. These findings will inform the development of the outline for the online training course on trauma-informed teaching.
European Mental Health Week 2023
From 22 May until 28 May, it took place the 4th edition of the European Mental Health Week organised by Mental Health Europe (MHE). The European Mental Health Week (EMHW) is a pan-European initiative that aims to raise awareness about the importance of mental health in our everyday lives.
As part of the EMHW, MHE invited our consortium members, SIRIUS Network, and EPSA to an online event about Mental Health in Education. During this event SIRIUS had the opportunity to explain the connections between mental health and education, the importance of including mental health in the school curricula, and the impact education and schools have on the emotional wellbeing of migrant and refugee students. As part of the conversation, SIRIUS presented the ENABLE project to the audience, and highlighted the work of the project in enhancing the capacity of primary and secondary schools to effectively deal with cases of psychosocial trauma among migrant and refugee students.

CESIE is a European center for studies and initiatives that strongly believes in transversal collaboration between cultures, fields and sectors. CESIE aims to contribute to the active participation of people, civil society and institutions towards a collective educational growth, in compliance with ethics and human development.
In the interview, Fabrizio presents the work of his organisation, the strategies for supporting migrant and refugee children with trauma disorders in the schools of his region and the gaps and challenges that teachers perceive in the implementation of trauma informed practices.
