Training on Interculturality and Social and Emotional Learning for Teachers in the Pyrénées Atlantiques
As part of the ENABLE project, Pistes Solidaires recently organized an enriching training session for teachers of the Unit Pedagogical for Allophone Students Arrivals (UPE2A), encompassing both primary and secondary education. This initiative aims to enhance teachers’ skills in interculturality and social and emotional learning, two essential elements for the integration and well-being of migrant children in the French educational system.
A Training Inspired by an Innovative Platform
The content of this training was carefully developed from an innovative online platform. It offers a course structured into five modules, specifically designed to meet the needs of teachers and school leaders welcoming migrant children. The modules cover various aspects of social and emotional learning, providing practical tools and strategies to foster an inclusive and supportive school environment.
An Enriching Day at Lycée Francis Jammes
On May 23, Lycée Francis Jammes in Orthez hosted 24 teachers for this intensive training day. Participants had the opportunity to explore the different modules of the course and engage in interactive discussions on interculturality and the specific challenges faced by migrant children.
The focus was on sharing experiences and best practices, allowing teachers to leave with concrete and applicable ideas for their classrooms. The goal was not only to raise awareness among teachers about intercultural issues but also to equip them to better support students in their educational and social journeys.
What’s Next?
This training is just the beginning. Pistes Solidaires will continue to work closely with schools and teachers to promote inclusion and the well-being of all students. The next step will take place at the start of the school year, with a new training offering. This will focus on practical, ready-to-use tools aimed at fostering school environments conducive to the socio-emotional development of migrant children.
By remaining committed to this mission, we hope to provide concrete and sustainable solutions to support teachers and students in this intercultural dynamic. We look forward to continuing this essential work and seeing the positive impacts of our actions in classrooms at local and European levels in the partner countries of the project.
